Gérard Lavinay is appointed Executive Director Italy, François-Melchior de Polignac takes over from him as Executive Director for Merchandise, Supply and Formats

Gérard Lavinay has been appointed Executive Director Italy, effective as of 1 October 2018. He will report directly to Alexandre Bompard and will remain member of the Group Executive Committee.
Gérard Lavinay, 57, began his career with Euromarché in 1980. He has occupied various operational positions in France, such as Head of supply chain, Director of fresh products and Director of supermarkets, as well as abroad – in particular, he served as Director of supermarkets in Greece, and Executive Director of Carrefour in Chile and Belgium. From 2013 to 2017, he oversaw Carrefour's business in northern Europe (Belgium, Poland and Romania). Since 2017, he has been Executive Director for Merchandise, Supply and Formats.

François Melchior de Polignac has been appointed Executive Director for Merchandise, Supply and Formats, and as such will now sit on the Group Executive Committee.
François-Melchior de Polignac, 45, began his career as a financial controller at L’Oréal before moving to the Boston Consulting Group where he spent three years. He joined Carrefour's mergers and acquisitions department in 2000 before becoming director of a hypermarket. He then took over as director of supermarkets in Poland. He was then tasked with a transformation project across the group before taking over as executive director for Romania. In 2013, he was appointed Managing Director of Carrefour Belgium.
Since 2017, he has been Executive Director for Transformation, Merchandise and Partnerships.

These new appointments take effect on 1 October 2018.
