The Carrefour Spain 2017 Health Caravan begins its tour

Carrefour Spain introduced Ferran Adriá (a Spanish chef with three Michelin stars) at the science and technology fair, Youth mobile festival, in Barcelona to launch the 2017 Health Caravan tour. The Health Caravan will travel, for the second year in a row, to supermarkets in 53 cities all over Spain over the course of seven months, teaching families about the benefits of a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle in a playful, fun way.

The caravan has an educational area where cooking classes and a nutrition exhibition will be held. It also has a play area where activities with the NAO and Pepper robots will take place, to make a visit more fun and to interact with all the attendees.
Thousands of young people who attended the fair also visited the Caravan. Top government authorities also came, including Carles Puigdemont, President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, who was keenly interested in Carrefour Spain’s initiative.


Educational and fun roadshow
The Health Caravan tour will take place from March 6th to November 25th, except during the months of July and August. The roadshow includes an educational area and a separate fun area. Various workshops will be take place inside, each lasting 50 minutes and including 15 to 20 attendees, all related to healthy lifestyle habits.
The workshops will combine theory on healthy cooking with practice, reproducing some of the recipes from the book, “Te Cuento en la Cocina” by Ferran Adrià, under the supervision of the Nutrition Department of the La Paz Hospital (Madrid).
To ensure that the roadshow goes according to plan, Carrefour Spain has entered into a number of agreements with various schools, parents associations and local institutions. With their assistance, the company will be able to transmit key messages on the importance of implementing healthy habits, eating a health diet and fitness activities.
The Health Caravan is one of the most important activities in the Te cuento en la cocina [I will tell you in the kitchen] project, which was developed by Ferran Adriá and Disney. Last year’s tour was a success, with more than 100,000 visitors.


Committed to nutrition and combating waste
During Carrefour’s participation in YOMO, Carrefour Spain worked to raise awareness among youth about the importance of proper nutrition and the need to avoid creating any type of waste.
Carrefour Spain is working on policies relating to environmental protection, quality, prevention, health, food and product safety, and bases its CSR approach on three main pillars: combating all forms of waste, promoting the protection of biodiversity and sharing with its trade partners, enabling them to evolve together.
