Accompanying clients
More and more customers want to commit to a zero-waste approach, in particular by reducing their consumption of food packaging. By promulgating Act 13 of the French Act for food campaign, Carrefour has chosen to fully participate in this eco-responsible movement by giving everyone the opportunity to be served in store with their own containers.
Bring your own container
Successfully tested in 2018 in some fifteen hypermarkets in the Centre region, this operation is a new concrete commitment by Carrefour to reduce packaging, particularly plastic packaging. To be accepted in stores, the container must be dry, clean, transparent and fitted with a lid. Containers can be made of plastic or glass.
Only products from the assisted sales stands may be served in these containers, i.e. the fish, meat, deli, cheese and pastry departments. Once weighed, the products are labelled between the lid and the container. The fruit and vegetable departments and other self-service (bulk) products are not currently affected by the "Bring Your Own Container" operation.
