In yet another move to ensure the safety of all its customers and employees, Carrefour Brazil has become the first Brazilian retailer to receive the international My Care label, awarded by DNV GL and attesting to the efficacy and safety of the measures implemented by the company for protecting its customers and employees in its stores all over the country. All Carrefour store formats, plus Atacadão outlets, drugstores and Carrefour shopping centres were subjected to a stringent verification procedure by DNV to ensure that all processes and protocols are in line with the best national and international practice in the fight against COVID19.

Once the start of the COVID19 pandemic, Carrefour Brazil has been a pioneer in the implementation of a series of measures designed to guarantee the safety of all customers and employees. The solutions adopted by the company range from the simple (checkouts protected by acrylic panels, sanitizer gel dispensers) to the advanced (UV cabins and thermal cameras which automatically measure the body temperature of customers). As a consequence of the new measures, 90% of customers say they feel safer now they can sanitize their purchases before taking them home.

As an essential service, we have a responsibility and an obligation to make things as safe as possible for our customers, and that's what we've done. We've invested significantly in a range of solutions and technology to make sure everyone feels safe when they're shopping. We're extremely proud to receive the My Care label, as it attests to how all the measures we've taken, and the speed with which we've taken them, are the outcome of an ongoing endeavour which looks set to continue for some time still - as long as the need exists to guarantee the peace of mind of our customers and employeesdeclared Jérôme Mairet, Risk Management Director with Carrefour Brazil.

From now on, all Carrefour store formats - hyper, neighbourhood, Market and Express - plus Atacadão outlets, drugstores and the Jardim Pamplona and Butantã shopping centres, will display the My Care label. For customers, the label is their guarantee of a secure environment with a range of protective measures designed to make their shopping experience as safe as possible.

Among the measures implemented by Carrefour Brazil and certified by the My Care label are: intensive sanitization, floor stickers to help customers keep their distance from each other, store occupancy limits, employee and customer body temperature monitoring, acrylic screens protecting checkouts and customer service desks, use of masks by all employees, and training and prevention instruction for employees.

Some of these measures have already been implemented in the Butantã and Jardim Pamplona shopping centres, where occupancy is limited to just 20% of total capacity. Customers and employees have their temperatures checked before entering the centres, whose other safety measures include isolation of parking spaces and intensive sanitization of escalators and handrails.

Brazil is the second country to receive a safety label attesting to safety measures adopted to combat Covid 19. In Spain, Carrefour's operations have also been certified by a local certification body.

This merely reinforces the global commitment of the Carrefour Group to providing a safe environment for everyoneadds Jérôme Mairet.
